ABOUT US - TWO FOUNDATIONS WITH ONE GOAL
There are two registered foundations, one in New Zealand and one in the USA. Both organizations are giving support to the same projects in Kenya. The majority of the Board members of both
organizations have either been to Northern Kenya or worked there and have considerable appreciation for the complexities and challenges of this region. They all reside either in New Zealand or in the
USA.
WHY KENYA
Two sisters Liza and Amy made a life-changing decision to build a library to honor their late brother Michael who had worked in the Ileret area of Northern Kenya. Spurred into action they borrowed a Landcruiser, headed to Marsabit a town on the edge of the Chalbi Desert, and proceeded to fill a 10-ton truck with all the construction materials needed to build a library in Ileret, 13 miles south of the Ethiopian border, in one of the most remote and forgotten areas of Northern Kenya. Liza Cronhelm, as a project manager, has the reputation for getting the job done no matter the challenges that arise. She has got the backing of elders who have seen the delivery of promised projects, that to them, represent real development and long-term sustainability.
